At Trinity all will be safe
At Trinity Presbyterian Church, we are committed to following The Presbyterian Church in Canada’s Safe Church policies and procedures to ensure everyone associated with our church is protected from harm and harassment. These policies are:
Leading with Care Policy
All persons, and in particular all children, youth and vulnerable adults, who participate in our programs, ministries and/or use our facilities, will be cared for with Christian compassion and will be safe. All volunteers, paid staff, clergy and professional church workers are required to comply with this policy. In addition to be compliant with the policy, individuals involved must provided a valid Police Vulnerable Sector Check every five years and sign a Covenant of Care form annually.
Policy and Procedures for Addressing Harassment
Harassment of any kind shall not be tolerated and will be addressed. Every person has the right to expect to be treated with respect and to be safe in a harassment-free environment. Every person is expected to behave in ways that offer the same respect and safety to others. The policy focuses on the church’s life: on the people who lead and serve, both paid and volunteer; on the people who are served by the church; and on the churches activities and ministries.
Policy for Dealing with Sexual Abuse and Sexual Harassment
Sexual abuse or sexual harassment of any kind by church leaders, staff or volunteers will not be tolerated. All complaints will be taken seriously and handled according to the terms of the policy. All those who serve, especially the minister, church leaders, staff and volunteers are expected to adhere to Christian ethical principles in their sexual conduct and in their exercise of authority and power. Our church in all its extended ministries is to be seen as a safe place in the community; a place where it is known that sexual abuse is not tolerated. This is part of our Christian witness to the community.
Therefore, the leadership of any group using church premises further activities is also subject to this policy.
At Trinity Presbyterian Church we have a Leading with Care Committee that ensures the policies are put into practice.
If there’s an allegation of harassment or sexual harassment, the overview of the complaint process can be found in the respective policy.
